Potato Paneer and Jalapenos Tots Recipe by Manjula, Indian Snacks
Today I will be making potato paneer tots.
This is a great blend of potatoes, paneer and jalapeno pepper.
This is a delicious appetizer and great to serve for a party.
Your family will love it.
This recipe will serve 2-4.
For this recipe we need:
2 medium size russet potatoes
1 cup of mashed paneer
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
1 teaspoon of salt
1 jalapeno pepper
For batter we need
3 tablespoons of all purpose flour (maida)
About 5 tablespoons of water.
And oil to fry.
I have already washed and dried the potatoes
I am going to shred them and after shredding
I am going to boil for couple of minutes.
Water is boiling so I will add the shredded potatoes.
And boil this just for couple of minutes
so shredded potatoes is little bit tender, not mushy.
Potatoes are ready.
Don't over cook them, just slightly.
And now we are going to drain the water.
And just put some cold water over.
And then drain this water.
Squeeze it out.
While potatoes are cooling off, I will make the batter.
Just save little bit water.
It should be very smooth batter.
Add the remaining water.
As you see batter is not very thick.
Potatoes has cooled off.
So I am going to squeeze them more and take out as much water you can.
The water you have taken out from potato
you can use it for making soup.
Add the paneer.
I have already finely chopped the jalapeno pepper.
Salt, adjust to your taste.
And black pepper.
And now you mix the mixture.
Very good.
As you see, you can see all these shredded potatoes.
Mix the mixture really well
and after it is mixed make them in fist size ball.
It will be about 24 of them.
Tots are ready to fry.
So I am going to dip them in the batter
and fry them in the hot oil.
Oil is already on, for about 5-6 minutes
and it should be pretty hot.
Dip them very lightly.
And put it from the side.
It's sizzling, oil is ready.
Batter shouldn't be very heavy
after they are ready you shouldn't be able to see
or feel that there was any batter.
You need to fry them for about 4-5 minutes.
And do stir them about twice in the heat.
They are looking good and I am going to now turn them over.
It should be golden brown from all side.
This has been about 4 minutes.
And another 1-2 minutes to go.
It should be deep gold brown.
Potato tots are looking great.
It has been about 7 minutes.
I am going to take them out.
And do my second batch.
Potato paneer tots looking yummy.
They are great appetizer for a party.
Serve them hot with any chutney or ketchup.
My husband and granddaughter can't wait to eat them.
Thank you.
And I will see you again with a new recipe.
